Ande Smith – President and Principal
Ande brings a wealth of experience from across the government and private sectors to support higher education. He currently serves as the contracted CIO of the Maine Community College System and head of a multi-year project to modernize and enhance its Student Information System (SIS), while implementing other core systems and leading digital transformation efforts associated with IT management. Ande has served as CIO for the State of Maine, CTO for the State of Connecticut and in numerous other leadership positions, including CISO for large private sector organizations, with regulatory obligations under regimes familiar to higher education including Gramm-Leach-Bliley/FTC Safeguards and PCI DSS.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a Masters of Public Affairs from the University of Connecticut, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Maine School of Law. He is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and CMMC-RP Registered Practitioner.
Arthur Ream – Principal/Academic Practice Lead
Arthur brings an extensive background in security, compliance, and regulatory requirements in several verticals. A professor in Information Process Management, Cybersecurity & Ethics, and Information Technology at Bentley University.
He is a regular speaker on the healthcare I.T. security front in various forums and conferences and
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with a Minor in Business from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and a Master of Business Administration at Bentley University, Waltham, Massachusetts. He is a Certified CMMC-RP Registered Practitioner. He is an ISACA Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA) and a Certified Scrum Master.
He lives in Berwick, Maine.
Mary Natale – Chief Operating Officer
Mary has over 30+ years of extensive IT, Cybersecurity, Risk, Compliance & Audit and Regulatory experience and provides a unique perspective to Deer-Brooks Leadership team as she’s worked at many enterprise organizations throughout her career, most recently she was a Vice President, Senior Manager at TD Bank – Global Identity & Access Management.
Presently she is contributing to higher education by supporting the IT Optimization program at Maine Community Colleges and continues to be a thoughtful leader in the Identity & Access management domains.
Mary earned her BSBA in Computer Information Systems from Suffolk University. She lives in Falmouth, Maine.
